91st Annual Independence Day Ceremony

July 4 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Join us for our 91st annual Independence Day Ceremony and mark July 4th with a flag raising and reading of the Declaration of Independence. This year’s featured presenter is L. Phillips Runyon III speaking on the Founding Fathers.

Like many historical figures who’ve grown mythic with the passage of time, many of our Founding Fathers have taken on identities and reputations even they wouldn’t recognize.  Phil Runyon will provide some much needed perspective.

L Phillips (“Phil”) Runyon III has been a practicing lawyer in Peterborough for 44 years and now serves as the town’s moderator.  For 27 years he was also the presiding justice of the 8th Circuit Court, which is the subject of his recent memoir Justice Approximated.

We hope you will join us for this long-standing tradition going back to 1927!

The Independence Day Ceremony is held rain or shine. In the event of rain, the program will be held in Bass Hall. This event is free and all are welcome to attend.
