Community Conversations: Building a Youth-Friendly Community

April 3 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Youth-Friendly Community

What’s it like to be a teenager in New Hampshire, specifically in an area where the average age is 55, and where most activities are geared toward adults? Lately, our region has put a lot of focus on attracting new young families, but what have we done to meet the needs of teenagers and young adults who already live here? Have we considered their needs as we think about the future? A recent letter to the editor lamented the lack of cultural and social opportunities for teens and the absence of options for young adults who need safe places to gather socially. This conversation is a first step, an opportunity to hear from our youth and begin to work together to create solutions that can make our community more inclusive and welcoming for our youth, and ultimately more vibrant for all of us.

Our Conversation “Sparkers” for the evening are Daisy Young, Henry Bernstein,  Anna McGuiness with Karen Hatcher as Moderator.

Community Conversations are free and all are welcome!

Community Conversations is a series that explores many of the issues impacting our communities. A partnership between the Monadnock Center for History and Culture and the Monadnock Ledger-Transcript, each Conversation features local experts talking about challenges faced by our communities. Some issues are global in nature, but each conversation is designed to examine the topic from a local perspective. The program provides residents with the opportunity to learn more about issues impacting their communities, to engage in a civil dialog with speakers and with each other, and to come away with a sense that there are things that individuals and communities can do to foster change and improvement.

Community Conversations begin at 7 p.m. These programs are held in Bass Hall at the Monadnock Center for History and Culture, 19 Grove St., in Peterborough.

The Monadnock Center is proud to partner with the Monadnock Ledger Transcript to present Community Conversations!
