October 11, 2016 @ 7:00 pm

“Nearly one in five adults has a diagnosable mental health disorder,” explains Peter Evers, co-chair of the Campaign to Change Direction NH, and CEO of Riverbend Community Mental Health. “Learning the signs of emotional suffering can better open the door to treatment and getting people the help they deserve.” Change Direction was launched by representatives from behavioral health, businesses, education, law enforcement, medical care, and policy makers in New Hampshire.

Change Direction co founder (and former state Supreme Court Justice) John Broderick, will be one of the presenters at this months Community Conversation, along with Dr. Bill Gunn, a highly respected psychologist who serves as Director of Behavioral Health at Concord Hospital.

They are joined by Dennis Calcutt, the project director for the Monadnock Region System of Care Grant which was recently awarded to Cheshire County, and Michele Nuttle of Jaffrey, parent to a tween son with significant mental health disorders. She is a family representative for the Monadnock Region System of Care grant.

Following short presentations by the speakers, the floor is open to moderated conversation where all are welcome to participate.

Community Conversations is a series that explores many of the issues impacting our communities. A partnership between the Monadnock Center for History and Culture and the Monadnock Ledger-Transcript, each Conversation features local experts talking about challenges faced by our communities. Some issues are global in nature, but each conversation is designed to examine the topic from a local perspective. The program provides residents with the opportunity to learn more about key issues impacting their communities, to engage in a civil dialog with speakers and with each other, and to come away with a sense that there are things that individuals and communities can do to foster change and improvement.

Community Conversations are held in Bass Hall at the Monadnock Center for History and Culture, 19 Grove St., in Peterborough.  The program is free and open to all.
