Footings with Rick Maguire and Jordan Holtz

February 28 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Footings, led by NH songwriter Eric Gagne, returns to Bass Hall with Elisabeth Fuchsia on viola, Rick Maguire on drums, Jordan Holtz on vocals and Candace Clement on vocals. Rick Maguire of Pile and Jordan Holtz of Rick Rude will also play solo sets. This show will be the culimination of 5 intense days of rehearsals and performances before Footings goes into the studio to record their next album- their third in as many years.

Footings mixes musical genres to produce an electric folk alchemy that is entirely its own. Gagne’s gravel-laced vocals combined with Fuchsia’s lush viola meld into a velvety sound that evokes smoky clubs and a walk through the woods at the same time. The band has been referred to as a cross between Godspeed You Black Emperor and Dirty Three, which is a very nice thing to say.

Eric Gagne, the man behind Peterborough’s annual The Thing in the Spring, has toured nationally with Death to Tyrants, Redwing Blackbird, Passerine, as well as with Footings. Elisabeth Fuschia has been playing the viola since the age of 3 and has been part of Footings since its inception. Candace Clements, a Footings regular, also plays with Northampton- based Bunny’s a Swine. Rick Maguire is the songwriting force behind Boston stalwarts Pile. His voice goes from gentle to screeching and back in a moment, astutely communicating emotional imagery to the listener. Jordan Holtz is the bassist / vocalist for seacoast darlings Rick Rude, and her solo work reveals a rich tapestry of songs with her voice accompanied only by her bass guitar.

Check out these tracks from Footings’ 2017 album Resolver.

Tickets: $12 in advance, $15 at the door. Advance tickets will be available online and by phone (603) 924-3235 through 3 p.m. on February 28. This show is brought to you by The Music in Bass Hall concert series and The Glass Musuem.
