Gallery Talk: The Grand Monadnock

August 10 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am

Enjoy our new exhibit, The Grand Monadnock, in this curator-led gallery talk. Mount Monadnock doesn’t have one history but many histories! We begin the talk with the mountain’s geology and natural history and the origin of the name. Then, we will explore the mountain’s role in the development of tourism in the region, how the mountain has been an inspiration to generations of writers and artists, and its long history as a hiking destination. The talk will wrap up with a discussion of the efforts to preserve the mountain for future generations.

You will look at the Grand Monadnock with new eyes after this gallery talk!

The talk is approximately 60 minutes.

Museum admission: $5 (free for Monadnock Center members and children under 12).

Masks are recommended for all guests. See our current Covid-19 policy HERE.
