Hearth Cooking: Christmas Fare
December 16 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Christmas Fare is on the menu for our December Phoenix Mill House hearth cooking day. Visit the house to sample traditional Christmas dishes prepared over the open hearth and learn about Christmas history in New England.
The day’s menu includes Winter Soup, Pork & Apple Pie, Pumpkin Pie, White Pot, Caraway Cakes, and Brown Soda Bread.
The Phoenix Mill House was an overseer’s house for the textile mill that once stood at the corner of Main and Grove Streets. Our costumed interpreters, Samuel and Nancy Prescott, will share with you what the holidays were like when they lived in the house with their four children in the 1830s.
Hearth Cooking days are open house programs and visitors may drop in between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Accessibility Note:
The Phoenix Mill House is an historic house built circa 1800. Two steps are required to enter and exit the house and may not be suitable for some visitors.
