Hearth Cooking: Harvest Time in the Phoenix Mill House

September 23 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Harvest Time Hearth Cooking

It is harvest time and we will be cooking up some of autumn’s bounty in the Phoenix Mill House. At this open-house program, enjoy samples of dishes cooked over the open hearth and learn about life in the 1830s. Dishes are prepared from period recipes using the kitchen equipment of the time. Some of the ingredients will be harvested from the mill house garden.

Our costumed interpreters will tell you about the Samuel and Nancy Prescott family who lived in the Phoenix Mill House in theHarvest Time Hearth Cooking: Mill House Garden 1830s when Samuel was an overseer at the Phoenix Mill.

The Monadnock Center’s Phoenix Mill House is located behind the center’s main building at 19 Grove Street in downtown Peterborough.

This living history program is free but donations are gratefully accepted. The house will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Accessibility Note:

The Phoenix Mill House is an historic house built circa 1800. Two steps lead in and out of the house and access may be difficult for some.
