Hearth Cooking Saturday: March Maple Madness

March 17 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

March is sugaring time in New England! Join us for samples of historic dishes using New Hampshire maple syrup and learn about early spring activities in the daily lives of Nancy and Samuel Prescott who lived in the Phoenix Mill House in the 1830s. The days menu includes bread pudding with maple cream sauce, homemade maple breakfast sausage, fresh farmer’s cheese, cheese pancakes, and squash, apple and maple soup.

Hearth Cooking Saturday is an open house program. Visitors are invited to stop by for a few minutes or stay longer enjoying delicious samples, good conversation, and the warmth of the fire.

The Phoenix Mill House is an overseers home connected to the Phoenix Mill, a large textile factory that was located at the corner of Main and Grove Streets for 100 years. Today, the house is a living history house where visitors can learn about the life of a millworker’s family at the beginning of the Industrial Revolution.

This program is free with museum admission ($3/ free for members and children under 12).
