Liam Grant & Ethan WL- Music in Bass Hall

March 25 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Liam Grant and Ethan WL

Join us for an evening of solo steel string guitar performances by New England musicians Liam Grant and Ethan WL. These two distinct musicians play in the American Primitive style – mixing the traditional country blues fingerstyle folk idiom with unexpected composition and improvisational methods.

These two artists use the guitar as a narrative vehicle to create short form symphonies, modal epics, and driving up tempo rags. Their styles have been both informed and inspired by traditional American music, including country blues, blue grass, and old time music, and their personal reflections and relationships with the New England landscape and sense of place.

Liam Grant

Hailing from Nashua, Liam Grant is on a mission to “bring fine Country Bluegrass, Ragtime and Blues plus other musicks for discerning listeners to a modern audience.” In 2021, Grant released his debut album, Swung Heavy: Gitarr for Fanatics. Folk UK said of Swung Heavy’s signature track, Aroostook, “is the tune here that is telling me that Liam is a musician to keep an eye on.”  His second album, Amoskeag, will come out in 2023.

Ethan WL

Ethan WL is a musician, composer, and filmmaker from Gloucester, MA. He has produced a diverse body of work including film scores, ensemble compositions, and albums with his noise rock band The Big Nest. His album, The Pink House, was released in January 2023. It is a soundtrack and companion piece to the film of the same name directed by Jefferson Everest Crawford.
