Lunch & Learn- William Preston Phelps

William Preston Phelps (1848-1923) is known as the Painter of Monadnock. Born in Chesham, Phelps started his working career as a sign painter in Lowell, MA and painted landscapes as a sideline. His fine art so impressed a group of local patrons, they funded his studies in Europe and he left behind his sign painting business to pursue the fine arts. After many years in Europe, Phelps bought his family’s Chesham farm and began to paint the Monadnock landscape en plein air. Monadnock and the region’s landscape were his subjects for the remainder of his life.

Lunch & Learn begins with a delicious lunch of pinwheel sandwiches, salad, chips and a pickle followed by a light dessert and coffee or tea. After lunch, guests enjoy a lively, illustrated talk. Lunch begins promptly at noon.

Tickets are $18 ($15 for members) and must be purchased in advance. Lunch & Learn program generally sell out, so get your tickets today!
