Peterborough Garden Club: Basics of Organic Gardening

April 8 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Henry Homeyer

The Peterborough Garden Club’s April meeting welcomes Henry Homeyer who will present the basics of organic gardening. This program is free and everyone is welcome.

Henry Homeyer, UNH Master Gardener and Vermont Public Radio commentator, will join us to discuss how we can improve our soil, and deal with pests and diseases without using any chemicals.  Henry will show photos of great flowers he grows and share his knowledge in growing our gardens successfully and organically!

Henry Homeyer is a lifetime organic gardener living in Cornish Flat, NH. He started gardening over 65 years ago with his maternal grandfather, John Lenat, who was an early subscriber of Organic Gardening magazine.

Henry has been writing gardening columns since 1998 and is currently writing weekly for eight newspapers in New England. He is the author of four gardening books. He was the Vermont and New Hampshire Associate Editor of People, Places and Plants Magazine for ten years. Henry grows – or has grown – hundreds of kinds of flowers, trees, shrubs. He eats food from his garden all year, freezing, storing, and dehydrating garden produce.

The Peterborough Garden Club mission is to encourage and stimulate interest in the beautification of home and public properties and to study and share information on gardening, horticulture, conservation, flower arranging and related topics. Garden Club meetings begin with a business meeting at 9:30 followed by refreshments at 10 a.m. and a public program running approximately 10:30-11:45 a.m.

SNOW ALERT: If the ConVal schools are closed or their opening is delayed, the meeting is cancelled.

The Monadnock Center is pleased to be the host venue for this Peterborough Garden Club program. For more information, please visit the club’s website here.
