Peterborough Pop Up Museum and Time Capsule Exhibit Opening

August 3 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

See how Peterborough has changed (and stayed the same!) when the town becomes a history exhibit during the Peterborough Pop Up Museum. From August through October, historic photographs will “pop up” in locations throughout the downtown. The photographs will show the location as it appeared 50, 100 or even 150 years ago.

The Peterborough Pop Up will open August 3 with an opening reception at the Monadnock Center. At the reception, visitors can pick up a printed guide showing each location.

The opening reception will also feature a display of the contents of the time capsules retrieved from the cornerstones of both the Town House and the Historical Building. These two iconic Grove Street buildings were designed and built in 1917-1918 by architect Benjamin Russell. Designed in the Georgian Revival style favored in the early 20th century, the buildings have shaped the downtown’s architecture and streetscape through today.

The Peterborough Heritage Commission and the Monadnock Center are pleased to present the Peterborough Pop Up Museum as part of its year-long centennial celebration of the Peterborough Town House and the Historical Building, the home of the Monadnock Center.  Additional events and activities will take place through the end of the year to celebrate the centennial.
