The Beaten Path: An interactive concert for young people with Mobius Percussion

October 10, 2015 @ 3:00 pm

mobius4

In this special interactive concert for young people, Mobius Percussion starts with demonstrating ‘found sounds’ and showing children how it’s possible to make music out of anything. First, we’ll learn how to feel a pulse and maintain it by walking and clapping, and a combination of those sounds. After that, using pots and toys, an impromptu band of kids, parents, and Mobius, will learn how to play together as one unit. First we explore dynamics — so playing LOUDLY and then very quietly. After that, we split into groups, accompanied by 1-2 members of Mobius, to see if we can put together a piece of our own. Starting off slowly with two groups and then maybe three (who knows, we may even get to four!!), each group devises a groove to play and the impromptu band will put it all together.

This event is FREE and made available through the outreach program of Electric Earth Concerts, in collaboration with the Monadnock Center.
