Walking Tour- Wilder’s Peterborough

June 23 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

Step back to the time when Thornton Wilder was at the MacDowell Colony at this historical walking tour. Wilder was in residence at the Colony nine times between 1924 and 1953. In 1937 Wilder worked on Our Town in Veltin Studio at the Colony and the play is thought to be inspired by his observations of life in Peterborough. We will begin the tour at the Monadnock Center and stroll through the downtown area learning about the history of the community and some of the sites that inspired Our Town.

This tour is the first of five walking tours planned for the 2018 season. The walk will be held rain or shine. The tour will be approximately 90 minutes. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes and bring a water bottle.

This program is free and all are welcome.

The Monadnock Center’s 2018 walking tours are made possible through the generous support of The Petersons, Inc.
