Nancy Prescott’s Diary- New Blog Series
If you have attended a Hearth Cooking Saturday at the Monadnock Center’s Phoenix Mill House, you have met Nancy Prescott (played by historical interpreter Lorraine Walker). Nancy Prescott lived in the Phoenix Mill House in the 1830s. Her husband, Samuel, was an overseer at the Phoenix Mill.
In this new blog series, Nancy will share her diary where she records what family life was like in a millworker’s home in the 1830s. Known for her cooking, Nancy’s diary includes recipes from her kitchen.
This fictional account is based on historical sources, period cookbooks and primary source research into the Prescott family.
