Samuel’s Garden Journal- New Blog SeriesSamuel's Garden- Bee Balm

Samuel Prescott lived in the Phoenix Mill House in the 1830s when he was an overseer for the Phoenix Mill. Today, our historic interpreters present living history demonstrations featuring Samuel, his wife Nancy, and their children in the historic mill house.

Each year, Samuel plants and tends a kitchen garden for his family. In this blog series, Monadnock Center volunteer John Patterson keeps a journal of Samuel’s garden. While fictionalized, the blog series will present information on 19th century gardening based on historical research.

Visit Samuel’s garden when you are in Peterborough! The Phoenix Mill House is located behind the Monadnock Center’s main building at 19 Grove Street.

We hope you enjoy following Samuel’s Garden Journal!
