Summer Music in the Monadnock Region

Here at the Monadnock Center we’ll be taking a break from our Music in Bass Hall series over the summer, but we’re excited to see lots of music going on.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of Monadnock Music, whose season opens July 10th with a program of Beethoven Symphonies at the Peterborough Town House.  Their festival runs through August 7th, with performances at churches and halls throughout the Monadnock region, many of them free of charge.

The Walden School, a summer music program at the Dublin School, offers a series of free concerts, which have already begun – they run through July, culminating with the Walden School Choral Concert on July 31.

The Horszowski Trio  performs for Electric Earth Concerts on August 29, at First Church in Jaffrey.

In the chamber music vein, Electric Earth Concerts is presenting four concerts, starting with “Light and Shadow“, a program featuring works of Mozart, Andrew Norman, Stephen Jaffe, and Gunther Schuller, at the Francestown Old Meetinghouse on July 9th. Their season continues with a Summer Serenade Concert and wine and cheese tasting at LaBelle Winery in Amherst.

 

In the true spirit of small town life in the summer, there are several free concert series. In Jaffrey, the Farmer’s Market will be bringing in music every Wednesday in July, on the town common, from 6:00 – 8:30 (read more in the Monadnock Ledger-Transcript).
